Search 4 A Star – GMA7

One of the most unforgettable days in my life

When I was 15, my sister, a friend and I decided to take an audition in this singing competition in GMA7. The show was called Search for a Star (which you may still remember ’till now? Sarah Geronimo was the champion) Haha.

Auditions are held at SM Supemalls, I remember we arrived 10am at SM City Pampanga, took a form for the audition and waited for years. It took us 9 excruciating hours before we are able to take the audition (to sing in front of the crowd in SM Pampanga’s Center Stage).

Whew! It was 7pm when my tired feet stepped-in the stage, sung my piece for 2 minutes! Hahaha! Still, I remember the recorded voice of a girl saying “Maraming Salamat!”, they play this voice just to make you stop from singing! (kumbaga, maraming salamat, tumigil ka na sa pagkanta mo at bumaba ka na ng stage! hahaha!).

You can easily tell when a person made it through the audition; after singing, walked away from the stage, the camera man records his/her dramatic walk and upon his/her exit, a staff gives this white xeroxed paper, interviews the aspirant, and you’ll know that he/she made it because there is a big smile on his/her face! Nice ei! . And just to cut the story short, I’m one of this “lucky” aspirant who walked away from SM with a big smile on his face. Hahaha!

Sadly, there are still 2 auditions after passing the 1st one. And sadly… The end…

But anyways, it’s okay, Sarah auditioned for 3 times before she was crowned as the pop princess. Maybe it’s not yet the right time for Alexify
